The sun can be a danger whatever your skin type, but damaged or healing skin is especially vulnerable to the effects of UV. Damaged skin can be at increased risk due to pre-existing skin conditions such as eczema, acne or rosacea, or due to interventions such as aesthetic treatments (laser, peels) or even tattoos. Why is damaged skin so vulnerable under the sun? When the skin is healing, it is “laid bare” and more susceptible to damage from UV rays. It is also prone to unsightly dark marks called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
