THE GOLDEN RULES
OF SUN PROTECTION
The warmth and light of our golden sun is the source of all life. But unfortunately the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can be damaging. UVB is responsible for sunburn, whilst UVA causes skin ageing, and – more seriously – both can contribute to skin cancers. Medics agree that everybody needs sun protection. Acquire four sun-safe habits to minimise risk:
• Seek shade when the sun is at its most damaging between 11 am and 3 pm;
• Cover up with appropriate clothing, UV-filtering sunglasses, and a hat.
• Understand UVA and UVB sunscreen to choose the right sun protection products.
• Learn how to protect your children from the sun.
